Whilst the children are on school holidays, Papamoa Rotary is proud to have completed our District Grant Project – Dictionaries in Schools.
As part of the Covid-blighted year Papamoa was delighted to be able to be awarded a District Grant to assist us with the rollout of the fantastic Usborne Dictionaries to our Primary Schools. The population explosion in Papamoa has meant that we now have new schools opening whilst existing schools bulging at the seams.
Each of the Primary Schools in our area, covering Papamoa and Te Puke, were offered a delivery of dictionaries to be used as they saw fit. Some schools declined the offer, but many took us up and we were proud to be able to present over 250 dictionaries to budding young readers.
Most schools chose to use them as special awards for children who had exceeded in their reading skills this year. There was a great deal of pleasure to be had by the giving and receiving of those dictionaries as can be seen from the beaming faces in the attached pictures.
Many thanks to our District for assisting us to provide so many!
